Overview
Hours: Part-time 29 hours per week, worked over 4 days between 8am–6pm. Contract length: 12 months (with the possibility of extension depending on funding). Salary: £20,800. Location: To cover the North & East of Scotland (Inverness – Aberdeen). Working pattern: Work from home with frequent travel required. You will be expected to deliver a face-to-face service to clients in their own home or safe meeting place within the North & East of Scotland.
Brake is the national, acclaimed road safety charity which provides the National Road Victim Service (NRVS). We have been supporting victims of road crashes since 1995 and campaign for positive change to prevent future collisions and save lives. This is a role that contributes to our clinically developed, trauma informed support services across the country, supporting those traumatically bereaved or seriously injured as a result of road traffic collisions.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a face-to-face service to clients in their own home or a safe meeting place within the North & East of Scotland.
* Provide emotional support and practical research and advocacy for vulnerable people after serious psychological trauma.
* Engage in outreach to other organisations to support cases where required.
* Maintain high levels of resilience and participate in professional development and clinical supervision.
* Travel as required for work purposes (driving licence checks may apply; driving licence and access to own transport are preferred).
Qualifications
* Experience of frontline care for people with acute vulnerabilities and risks (desirable).
* Comprehensive understanding of processes involved in the criminal justice system (desirable).
* Research and advocacy skills to reach out to other organisations to support cases.
* Significant resilience and willingness to be professionally developed and clinically supervised.
* A full UK driving licence, with access to own transport (reimburse travelling expenses). Driving licence checks may apply.
* Experience supporting people who have suffered sudden bereavement or working with those with heightened vulnerabilities is welcomed.
* Experience in related roles (police, criminal justice, family liaison, counselling, health and social care, or prior caseworker experience) is valuable.
