Job Description
Our Rail Advisory Team is growing its Rail Asset Management capability. We work across infrastructure enhancements, new‑build railways & metros, rolling stock and depots. We provide advisory and consultancy services to our clients on how to plan and implement asset management, utilise and optimise asset data, and embrace AI and machine learning to manage rail assets. As the Rail Asset Management Lead you will act as a focal point for developing and delivering this work, overseeing and supporting the technical development of our people.
You will act as a technical lead, guiding projects, coaching teams, and managing client and internal stakeholder relationships. In advisory‑led projects you may serve as Project Manager, ensuring project performance and managing direct client relationships. You will engage the wider asset management community within WSP to support strategic growth objectives and collaborate on knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities

* Support the growth of the Rail asset management service offering and capabilities.
* Deliver asset management services across rail projects in the UK and potentially internationally.
* Support complex projects by applying expertise in risk‑based decision‑making, whole‑life asset planning, information management and regulatory compliance.
* Develop relationships with other asset management teams and mentor and coach junior resources.
Required Qualifications & Skills
* Practical experience in the management and maintenance of Railway assets and in delivering Asset Management consultancy or advisory roles.
* Experience in technical development and mentoring of people in asset management.
* Strong understanding of the design and maintenance engineering challenges faced by rail.
* Experience working with asset data systems, including EAM, CMMS or DSTs.
* Demonstrable experience and understanding of asset management practices, theory and business strategy.
* Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting rail infrastructure development in the UK.
* Experience with ISO 55000, asset lifecycle planning, investment planning, risk‑based asset management strategies and digital transformation.
* Ability to develop strong relationships with clients and project teams.
* Ability to build relationships and work with resources and teams across the business (regionally and internationally).
* Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
