Drive enterprise-wide digital transformation and technology strategy
Critical leadership role in a high-performing, privately-owned mining services business
Will suit CIO or IT leader ready to step up to CIO level
My client is a well-established, industry-leading provider of services and equipment solutions to the mining sector. With a reputation for reliability, performance, and innovation, the business plays a critical role supporting large-scale mining operations across Australia. As they continue their growth trajectory, technology and integration will play a key role in driving performance, reducing cost, and enhancing decision-making across all divisions.
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the evolution of the company’s technology platforms, systems integration, reporting tools, and digital culture. This is a foundational role that will shape the organisation’s technology roadmap and directly influence operational efficiency and executive decision-making.
Working closely with the CEO and CFO, you will own the entire IT function – from infrastructure and cybersecurity to ERP integration, asset management systems and reporting platforms.
Key Priorities in Year 1:
1. Drive systems integration across divisions, replacing manual/paper processes with smarter digital workflows
2. Improve reporting visibility and asset control using Power BI and data automation tools
3. Lead internal IT resources and manage external vendors to align outcomes with business priorities
4. Build trust and clarity by communicating complex IT issues in simple, business-focused language
What We’re Looking For:
MUST HAVE: Proven success in a Senior IT Manager or CIO role within a business that is somehow related to the mining / resources services sector.
A people-first technologist with the ability to lead and influence, and build collaborative relationships
Confident in simplifying technical language for non-technical stakeholders
Autonomous, proactive, and outcome-focused – capable of partnering with senior leadership
Comfortable leading a small internal team while consistently evaluating the ROI on managed service providers and vendors
Strong understanding of cybersecurity, data governance, and digital risk
You don’t need mining services experience, but some kind of exposure to heavy industry or the like will be important, however what matters most is your ability to bridge the gap between technology and business performance. This is a rare opportunity to improve the technology function in a business with strong leadership, commercial momentum, and a genuine appetite for change.
