Your new company

We are delighted to be supporting a well-established organisation in Inverness as they look to appoint a Finance Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a great opportunity for an individual with strong purchase ledger experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative finance environment. The role is fully office-based and offers an immediate start. This role will begin on an initial temporary contract via Hays, but with the opportunity to secure a permanent role.

Your new role

In this position, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the finance function, with a particular focus on purchase ledger responsibilities. You will process high volumes of supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures, and you will work closely with colleagues across the business to maintain efficient financial operations. This is a varied role that requires strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and confidence in communicating with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Your daily responsibilities will include processing invoices through matching, batching and coding, preparing and assisting with regular payment runs, and maintaining supplier accounts through accurate statement reconciliations. You will be responsible for resolving invoice queries professionally and efficiently, supporting month-end processes including accruals and invoice cut off, and ensuring that all financial records are maintained in a clear and organised manner. You will also provide general support to the wider finance team as required.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you should have experience working within a finance or purchase ledger environment and be confident handling high-volume transactional workloads. You will bring strong numerical accuracy, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work methodically in a busy finance setting. Proficiency with finance systems and Excel is important, as is the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with suppliers and colleagues.
