We are currently recruiting for a Quarry and Recycling Manager to lead our fantastic team at our Lockington Quarry, which is located close to Derby in Derbyshire. The Quarry and Recycling Manager role here at Lockington is slightly different in the aspect that the quarry is currently mothballed and so the role is focused on the 2 main aspects - quarry earth moving activities and running the on-site recycling operations. The site was mothballed in with some restoration earth works still ongoing. The recycling operation aspect is that of road planings for recycling and distribution throughout the midlands via contract crush.
The site is easily accessible from Derby, Nottingham, Loughborough, Burton-upon-Trent, Newark-on-Trent, Tamworth, Lichfield, Melton Mowbray and surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
The Quarry and Recycling Manager role here at Lockington will manage the environmental, safety and operational standards which are key in the fundamentals of the role of Quarry and Recycling Manager with cost control, contractor management and performance improvement being high. Managing site compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities of the role, not exhaustive:
1. Leading and active management of the contract crush and earth works contractors
2. Delivery of toolbox talks
3. Manage all aspects of daily environmental, sustainability and operational requirements of the quarry and recycling area
4. Ensure the permitted recycling area is operating compliantly in-line with its environmental permit/waste management license
5. Drive operational performance through KPI’s
6. Timely resolution of queries assigned to the sector
7. Take responsibility for their own safety and that of colleagues and business partners
8. Maintain site housekeeping to a high standard
9. Responsible for the budget in relation to the plant you are responsible for, these being both fixed and variable costs

The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role the ideal candidate for the position of Quarry and Recycling Manager you will have experience and knowledge of:
ESSENTIAL Experience
11. Experience in Quarry operations
12. Experience in environmental, sustainability and recycling programmes – would prove highly beneficial
13. Previous experience of a Sand and Gravel Quarry environment – would prove highly beneficial
14. Previous experience of a recycling environment – would prove highly beneficial
15. Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
16. Working knowledge of H&S and Environmental policies
DESIRABLE Qualifications
17. A role associated Degree in Environmental or Sustainability would prove highly beneficial
18. IOSH Managing Safely
19. NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations
20. WAMITAB or equivalent qualification
Skills
21. Able to actively identify and implement site and process improvements
22. Able to effectively communicate and look for opportunities to identify customer needs
