An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 6 session Specialty Doctor to join our SE Cardiff Community Team. The post-holder will be based in the Llanfair Unit, UHL, and will work predominantly in the community setting, including hospital-based outpatient clinics. The work will consist of assessments of emergency and routine psychiatric patients, together with ongoing care under the supervision of the Consultant. Duties will involve a spectrum of activities including history taking, assessment of mental states, electronic record keeping, preparation of discharge summaries and written communication with GPs following outpatient clinics and domiciliary visits. A significant amount of work is likely to be involved with patients who are or need to be detained under the Mental Health Act. The post-holder will need to be able to work closely with and on behalf of the Consultant Old Age Psychiatrists for the SE Team, within the Mental Health Services for Older People Directorate of the Mental Health Clinical Board. The post-holder will mostly work in the community setting, although inpatient cover willbe required at times. The work will consist of assessments of emergency and routine psychiatric patients, together with ongoing care under the supervision of the Consultant. Duties will involve a spectrum of activities including history taking, assessment of mental states, electronic record keeping, preparation of discharge summaries and written communication with GPs following outpatient clinics and domiciliary visits. The post-holder will work closely with a number of professionals in the team including CPNs, Dementia Care Advisor, Dietitian, SLT, OT, Physiotherapist, Psychologist and Family Support Workers. The post-holder will regularly participate and contribute to weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings.
