The Role
Berkmann Wine Cellars is seeking an experienced and proactive Site Transport Manager to lead our busy West Thurrock transport operation and deliver exceptional service standards. The successful candidate will manage daily transport office activity and coordinate our delivery function through efficient dispatch and debrief processes, working closely with drivers, customer service teams, and our third-party logistics partner, London City Bond (LCB).

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to
1. Effectively manage driver scheduling and resource planning
2. Managing the day-to-day transport office operation
3. Leading, motivating and managing a team of circa 25 drivers
4. Overseeing driver recruitment, onboarding and performance management
5. Managing dispatch and driver debrief processes
6. Working closely with our 3PL warehouse to ensure smooth delivery operations
7. Delivering exceptional customer service standards
8. Ensuring transport compliance, controls and operating procedures are maintained
9. Monitoring and managing resources effectively to ensure alignment with budget
10. Resolving operational issues quickly and proactively
About You
11. Proven experience in a transport, logistics, or distribution operations role
12. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coach and motivate team members and communicate confidently with internal stakeholders
13. Proven people management experience
14. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively
15. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams) and POD/delivery management systems
16. Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capability to identify issues quickly and implement effective resolutions
17. Solid geographical knowledge of Greater London
18. A calm, professional approach under pressure with strong decision-making capability
19. An understanding of GDPR and confidentiality practices
20. Good understanding of transport compliance, health & safety procedures, and operational risk management
21. A full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points)
