Assystem is recruiting for a Principal Project Manager role for a key Client role near Helensburgh
The Joint Project Manager (JPM) will lead the coordinated delivery of the scheduled programme of intervention and upgrade works of the Client's Ship lift. The successful management of this programme of works is critical to ensuring the sustained and continued use of this support facility. The JPM will ensure the project is managed to cost, schedule, and quality while maintaining the highest standards of nuclear safety, security, and environmental compliance.
Operating within a multi-agency framework, the JPM will integrate activities across client, Industry Partners, and specialist civil contractors, with clear accountability to the Site Operator through the SFS Assistant Head Docking Capability.
Key Responsibilities:
* ️ Lead planning and delivery of a complex engineering upgrade programme.
* ⏱️ Manage and maintain an integrated project schedule.
* Act as liaison between MoD, industry partners, and specialist contractors.
* Produce governance reports – dashboards, risk registers & financials.
* ✅ Ensure compliance with defence, nuclear, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
Experience
* Previous experience leading a project as a Project Manager in a highly regulated industry
* Ideally experience of shutdowns or turnarounds
* Full lifecycle experience from business case approval, design, execution, handover
* Experience of change control
* Experience of risk management
Training & Qualifications
* HND in a related engineering/construction/project management discipline
* Formal project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, APM PMQ, MSP, or equivalent).

Due to the nature of this role the successful candidate will require Security clearance. To gain this they will be required to be a Sole UK national,
Hybrid Travel to main site near Helensburgh and Client offices in Glasgow. Flexibility to travel to site in Helensburgh up to 3 days a week.
This can be a staff or umbrella contract role.
