About the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join our High Net Worth Underwriting team in either York or Bristol. The role will primarily focus on High Net Worth Motor; there will also be opportunities to learn and underwrite High Net Worth Home (Bespoke).
You will be responsible for building and maintaining productive relationships with our network of NFU Mutual Agents, providing first-class technical support on renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business.
As a High Net Worth Motor Underwriter, you will underwrite risks that meet NFUM’s risk appetite and collaborate closely with colleagues from sales, underwriting, head office, and the agency network to ensure excellent service and underwriting standards.
NFU Mutual provides comprehensive induction and tailored training plans to support your career growth, including developing your High Net Worth underwriting and market knowledge, and cross-skilling on our High Net Worth home product (Bespoke).
This role offers a 35-hour workweek, with shift patterns between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and no weekends. Our hybrid working model allows up to 80% remote work once fully trained.
About you
We seek a customer-focused underwriting professional committed to delivering optimal solutions while managing risk. Experience in General Insurance motor underwriting is essential; High Net Worth expertise is a plus but not required, as training will be provided. Ideally, you hold or are working towards intermediate underwriting authority.
You should be proactive, self-motivated, and dedicated to high standards. Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills are crucial, as is the ability to work collaboratively and develop tailored insurance solutions.
We value coaching and mentoring skills, resilience, and a positive attitude towards challenges and change.
At NFU Mutual, we promote an inclusive workplace, celebrating diversity and aiming to support all candidates through adjustments or accommodations during recruitment. We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a signatory to the Race at Work and Women in Finance Charters, and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
