Job overview
The post holder is responsible for maintaining high standards of care and the development of programmes of care and/or the implementations of these programmes. Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and may be required to demonstrate procedures to supervised and unsupervised qualified and/or unqualified staff.
He or she regularly takes charge and leads the department in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility of the department.
Ensure that he or she adheres to all trust policies, particularly in relation to confidentiality and professional behaviour.
Main duties of the job
1.Participate in the overall management of the Department in conjunction with the Department manager.
2.Take the lead for education and training of ward staff.
3.In co-ordination with the Department Manager promotes delivery of high quality research based nursing care.
4.Participate in the implementation and monitoring of programmes of care.
5.Responsible for promoting effective and efficient utilisation of available resources.
6.To facilitate an environment conducive to learning and professional development.
7.Ensure that Trust policies, procedures and SOP’s are adhered to at department level.

Essential criteria
* Experience in working at band 6 level in outpatient setting
* Registered 1st level nurse
* Has a degree in health related subject or equivalent or willing to work towards
* Experience of undertaking audit
* Flexible approach to working to ensure delivery of service needs
* Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills
* IT skills in word processing and spreadsheets
* Ability to promote effective cohesive team working
* Demonstrates ability in the clinical setting
Desirable criteria
* Experience within urological speciality and procedures
* Leadership and development programme or willing to work towards
* Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent experience
