Description
To be part of a team of care staff supporting residential students to access the 24-hour curriculum at QAC by working towards set targets to develop students’ independent living skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Understand and respect individual students’ rights, choices, personal dignity, privacy, and aspirations.
2. Support personal care needs of students requiring assistance dressing, toileting, and washing.
3. Comply with CQC Regulations related to residential care.
4. Administer prescribed medication and homely remedies following QAC’s policies, and act immediately on medication errors.
5. Support students with healthcare needs such as Diabetes and Epilepsy.
6. Assist students with managing emotional and behavioural needs as per positive support plans, with support from the pastoral team.
7. Promote good care practices and contribute to team work through effective communication and attendance at team meetings.
8. Monitor daily support and achievements via the ‘Care Log’ system on Databridge MIS.
9. Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, student reviews, and targets.
10. Act as a designated key worker on a 1-1 basis with the student to achieve their targets.
11. Participate in student progress reviews and transition planning.
12. Communicate with students’ families and college staff regularly.
13. Support students’ leisure activities and promote social inclusion.
14. Maintain accurate record systems complying with regulations.
15. Attend professional supervision and mandatory training.
16. Be flexible with rota requirements, including sleep-ins with additional pay.
17. Work under the guidance of Shift Leaders, Assistant Home Manager, and Home Manager.
18. Familiarize with policies including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, and First Aid.
