Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a fantastic opportunity to join the team as a Business Intelligence Project Manager, who will join our Digital & AI workstream, part of the global digital transformation team. As the Business Intelligence Project Manager, you will be responsible for end of end planning and project control of business intelligence projects globally within our rail business.
In addition, you will proactively engage with internal customers to ensure complete understanding of requirements, support effective user interaction, and champion the use of business intelligence across our rail business.
Please note, this is a 12 month fixed term contract.
What you’ll be doing
1. Supporting Head of Business Intelligence to create, update and deliver Business Intelligence projects and objectives
2. Proactive engagement with internal customers to ensure complete understanding of requirements, support effective user interaction, and champion the use of business intelligence across UK rail business
3. Responding to planned and ad hoc development and information requests
4. Identifying and pursuing project, growth and development opportunities for Business Intelligence team, and building strong relationships with other key departments
5. Creating, maintaining and managing Business Intelligence project plans, monitoring delays, resources and potential critical path issues, escalating to the Head of Business Intelligence as required
6. Monitor Business Intelligence development and support resources to ensure work is completed on time, supporting identification of areas to prioritise
7. Monitor and report project risks, issues and opportunities
8. Collaborating with BI team to pursue effective BI development and efficient use of shared data.
9. Following BI development best practice framework for planning and implementation of business intelligence projects.
10. Supporting business analysis and process mapping activities to identify information requirements and opportunities, and translating into effective, documented BI specifications.
11. Understanding and compliance with Hitachi data governance principles and controls.
12. Leading creation and maintenance of data catalogues / data dictionaries and ensuring standardised terminology and semantics are used across all report content.
About you
13. Comprehensive understanding of project management and planning principles
14. Experience of planning and managing projects
15. Competent user of Power BI and Oracle P6
16. Understanding of data governance and business intelligence best practices
17. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
18. Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales.
19. Professional and confident
20. Pro-active and self-motivated with good timekeeping.
21. Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
22. Excellent interpersonal skills.
23. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
24. Good report writing skills.
25. Demonstration of ongoing personal development.
Qualifications
26. Degree level in Business, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
