Wood Process & Energy is recruiting an experienced Principal Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - PSC on contract basis based in our Glasgow office.
Hybrid Working - 3 days in Office Responsibilities for Internal Candidates
Key responsibilities:
As the Principal C&I Engineer, you will report to the Head of C&I Engineering to support the execution of C&I scopes across all Project phases (Concept to Start-up).
1. Provide realistic and practical technical solutions to operational engineering challenges
2. Evaluate existing and new manufacturers in his / her area of expertise for technical competence and compliance
3. Perform technical studies in applicable project related technical issues and prepare reports and feedback for presentation to technical and management personnel
4. Review engineering and design proposals for large project
5. Review and develop engineering and design documentation, including engineering procedures, standards, and specifications (FEED & EPC)
6. Experience with development of Instrument / Control Engineering deliverables as required on a project by project basis.
7. Delivery of small to medium scale projects with responsibility for estimates, schedules and resource allocation where required.
8. Checking and approval of engineering & design deliverables within established corporate procedures.
9. Guide, support and oversee work groups including mentoring of junior staff.
10. Experience on HAZOP / SIL assignment and knowledgeable of IEC 61511
11. Work collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers, and other internal personnel
12. Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities

Qualifications for Internal Candidates
Who we are looking for:
17. Experience with working on projects for the Energy, Chemicals and Refining Sectors
18. Experience with working within a project team to lead C&I engineering and C&I teams across a range of industry sectors. on Small, Medium / Large capital projects from concept to start-up
19. Be a Self-motivated team player working on own initiative
20. Experience with the development of Instrument Engineering deliverables as required on a project-by-project basis
21. Degree or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject
22. Chartered Engineer status as a Member of the Institute of Measurement and Control (IMC) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
23. Experience with specification control and safety system upgrades and modifications
24. Experience with specification of field instrumentation, analysers and ESD and actuated valves
25. Experience with sizing of flow devices/control valves / relief devices
26. Experience with attendance and contributing to HAZOP, LOPA, Alarm Reviews and SIL Determination
27. Experience with IEC 61511 Safety Lifecycle and Emergency Shutdown System architecture and design and SIL determination
28. TUV or similar Functional Safety Engineer qualification
29. Experience with the specification of Fire & Gas systems and detection equipment and the application of BS5839-1
30. Experience with IT/Telecoms/Networks/Access Control & CCTV Systems
31. Experience in specification and interface management of Instrumentation and Control requirements for Mechanical packages
32. Experience with interfacing with Client Engineers personnel to facilitate project execution
33. Experience with managing and liaison with Vendors to facilitate project execution
34. Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
35. Experienced engineer with sound technical background and expertise
36. Experienced in the use of appropriate codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation
37. Experienced in the use of design and assessment methods used within discipline
38. Competent in use of analytical methods used within discipline including theoretical background for analysis programs
39. Significant experience in planning, progress monitoring, forecasting and reporting activities for the C&I discipline
40. Conversant with other discipline key project activities and their interaction with/impact on the C&I scope
41. Aware of commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of engineering
42. Able to estimate man-hours and materials for delegated aspects of work
43. Able to work with other disciplines and draughting sections to meet delivery dates
