Overview
Reporting to: Direct Payment Employer
Location: Acomb, York
Hours of work: 1 hour per week plus additional to cover staff absence and holidays.
Rate of pay: £12.60 per hour
Job purpose: To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable/assist me in all aspects of daily living including accompanying me to swimming sessions, supporting me with making important telephone calls due to my hearing impairment, and accompanying me to enjoy time with my daughter on days out. I am a wheelchair user so a good level of fitness would be required to push and manoeuvre me safely. You would also need to be able to lift the chair into a car if you are a driver; a driver would be advantageous for this role, but it is not essential, as I can access public transport.
Main duties
* Domestic Duties
o Support with laundry, including bed changing.
o Support with housework, hoover, polish, cleaning bathroom, kitchen etc
o Chop, prepare food and meals.
o Pick up Prescriptions.
o Support to clean up after animals if needed.
* Social Duties
o Accompany me to the shops.
o Accompany me to social activities.
o Go food shopping with or without me.
o Support me to go clothes shopping, act as my sighted guide and describe items.
o Accompany me to swimming sessions.
* Other Duties
o Read and help respond to mail if needed.
o Assist me reading or doing things on the computer.
o Some personal care around bathing/showering and washing my hair.
o Support me to attend any appointments.
o Assist me with making telephone calls.
o Physical support to guide me when walking, ensure I can rest in my wheelchair if needed.
o Push my manual wheelchair safely.
These duties may vary from day to day, and it is important that you have a flexible approach to your work.
