Position: Head of Freight Forwarding Location: Greater Belfast, Co. Antrim Salary: Set to attract a high-performing candidate and commensurate experience Verus Search has been retained by an industry leading transport and logistics group to appoint a Head of Freight Forwarding. This is a leadership role responsible for providing commercial direction and operational oversight across a growing multi-modal division. The company operates an extensive network across Ireland, the UK, and internationally, offering integrated road, sea, and air freight solutions to a broad customer base. As Head of Freight Forwarding, you will provide operational leadership, ensuring that service delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance are maintained to the highest standards. You will oversee the end-to-end management of multimodal freight operations, leading an experienced team to deliver excellence across all service areas. The role requires a hands-on and decisive leader capable of driving performance improvement, implementing systems and processes that enhance visibility and efficiency, and ensuring the division operates in full alignment with wider business objectives. Working in partnership with the Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in developing new business opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and expanding the companys airfreight capabilities. You will manage and negotiate supplier and carrier relationships, ensuring the best market rates and service quality, while leading on budgeting, forecasting, and overall P&L performance for the division. The following skills and experience are essential: Significant senior management experience within freight forwarding or multimodal logistics operations, ideally across air, sea, and road freight. Proven track record of leading operational teams and delivering performance improvements in service quality, efficiency, and profitability. Strong commercial acumen with experience of developing new business opportunities and managing key customer relationships. Demonstrable experience of contract negotiation and supplier management with carriers, shipping lines, and airlines. Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management. Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and freight compliance requirements.
