Overview

Derby County are seeking to recruit a PDP Academy Performance Analyst to join the Academy Analysis Department at Moor Farm Training Centre.


Key Responsibilities

* To aid in the development and management of the Academy Performance Analysis Department and fulfil any such additional directives that may be given by the Academy Lead Performance Analyst and Academy Staff regularly.
* Film and analyse individual and team performances within the PDP to the required standard.
* Undertake training, pre-match, post-match, and live analysis of Academy players to provide coaches and players with feedback.
* Carry out opposition analysis, filming, coding and video editing – providing insights to the relevant coaching staff and creating detailed reports, utilising telestration tools to facilitate game plan creation.
* Work with coaches and analysts to build presentations (statistical and video) for game/individual performance reviews.
* Liaise with the Player Pathways Lead to assist with the creation of a comprehensive loans analysis provision within the academy.
* Build performance profiles using databasing and statistical reporting techniques.
* Provide coaches and players with trend analysis information to advance the identification and interpretation of player performance profiles.
* Support the creation, delivery and review of Individual Development Plans within the PDP.
* Maintain an up-to-date database of matches and training in line with the game craft manual and produce motivational and educational videos using DCFC and best practice footage.
* Create age and learning style-appropriate education content – relating to team, unit and individuals.
* Share relevant video, data, and other resources with key stakeholders (staff, players, and parents) using various platforms where applicable.
* Provide education to all key stakeholders on how to use a variety of platforms.
* Undertake available training courses and research to enhance personal knowledge, skills and experience.
* Attend briefings, courses and seminars as required by the Club, The Premier League, and The Football League and commit to Continued Professional Development.
* Keep abreast of current research and the latest developments in Sports Analysis practice and suggest ideas for continuous improvement.
* Demonstrate consistently high standards of behaviour and operate within the club code of conduct, the Laws of the Game, and the Rules of the FA or the FA Premier League.


Personal characteristics and experience

* Excellent IT skills (Mac and PC) and knowledge of databases, SQL and reporting capabilities, and working with raw data files such as XML and CSV.
* Robust skills and knowledge of videography, coding, data analytics and animating.
* Excellent people management skills.
* Confident, resilient and self-motivated.
* Excellent communications skills both verbal and written.
* Excellent presentation skills.
* Ability to work in a fast paced, target driven environment.
* Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
* Work using own initiative and as part of a team.
* Experience working in a performance analysis role within football at an elite level and/or knowledge of coaching elite players.
* Experience of working in a Category 1 Academy or First Team.
* Experience in the manipulation of performance data sets and visualisations.
* Experienced user of software such as Hudl, Sportscode/Studio/Tactic, Wyscout, MatchTracker, StatsBomb, and demonstrable knowledge of other performance analysis software.
* Demonstrable extensive technical and tactical football knowledge with the ability to contextualise for player-facing material.
* Advanced coding and visualisation abilities such as R, Python, XML, XSLT, Power BI (desirable).


Qualifications

* Essential: Undergraduate qualification in an appropriate discipline (e.g. Performance Analysis, Sports Science).
* Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in an appropriate discipline (e.g. Performance Analysis, Sports Science).
* Desirable: FA-recognised coaching qualification or overseas equivalent (e.g. FA Level 2).

Salary is competitive and dependent on experience. This is a full-time role, with weekend and evening work and regular national travel required due to the demands of professional football.
