Aspiring Early Years Educator Apprentice
As an apprentice at Stepping Stones Nursery, you’ll work at a company and gain hands‑on experience, caring for children aged 0‑5 years and ensuring safeguarding processes are followed alongside the nursery team.
Please note: This apprenticeship requires a Level 2 early years qualification. Applications are not considered if you do not have this.
Working week: Monday to Friday, 31.5 hours per week, open hours 7:00 am – 6:00 pm.
Wage: £8.00 per hour (national apprenticeship wage); wage rises to the National Minimum Wage after 12 months if over 19 years old.
Apprenticeship: Early Years Educator level 3, duration 18 months, training provider LMP Education.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Care for and educate children aged 0‑5 years, ensuring safeguarding processes are followed.
* Assist in daily risk assessments, maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment.
* Support children with personal care routines, such as toileting, hygiene, and mealtimes.
* Promote positive behaviour, encourage independence, and build nurturing relationships with children.
* Interact with parents and carers professionally, maintaining confidentiality.
* Support the preparation and maintenance of resources and play spaces.
Learning and Professional Development
* Work towards achieving a recognised Early Years qualification as part of an apprenticeship programme.
* Attend all required training sessions, college days, and assessments.
* Share details of current learning focus and progress with a mentor.
* Actively engage in learning opportunities and apply new knowledge into daily practice.
* Seek guidance and feedback from senior staff to support professional growth.
* Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and commitment to developing as an early years practitioner.
Health, Safety and Safeguarding
* Ensure children are supervised appropriately at all times.
* Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately to a senior member of staff.
* Support daily risk assessments and maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment.
* Adhere to health and safety, food hygiene, and welfare requirements in line with the EYFS.
* Handle confidential information appropriately and in line with data protection requirements.
Care and Wellbeing
* Support children with personal care routines, including toileting, hygiene, and mealtimes.
* Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
* Help prepare and maintain resources and play spaces to a high standard.
* Build warm and nurturing relationships with children to support their emotional wellbeing.
Parental Engagement
* Interact with parents and carers politely and professionally.
* Share relevant information with senior staff to ensure effective communication with families.
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Essential Qualifications
