We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team of 24 Ophthalmic Consultants at Queen's Medical Centre working together to make a difference to Ophthalmology services within Nottingham and beyond.Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and be on the GMC Specialist Register for surgical Ophthalmology or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a team of highly qualified and experienced ophthalmologists providing a comprehensive range of ophthalmic clinical services.The Ophthalmology unit offers a comprehensive range of routine and specialist ophthalmic services and the post-holder will be expected to play an active role in the development and provision of the Medical Retina / Diabetic Retinopathy sub-specialty services for patients at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.Main duties of the jobA full range of Ophthalmology patients are admitted to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the appointee will be responsible for the management of those patients admitted under his/her care.Provision with Consultant colleagues of a comprehensive elective and emergency Ophthalmic service.Provision of reciprocal cover for periods of leave.Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and the proper functioning of the department.These duties are subject to review from time to time in the light of the changing requirements of the service.
