This role has a dual focus on high-quality English language teaching (for foreign language students) and pastoral care for both day and boarding students, including health and safety, safeguarding and discipline. The post-holder will work independently with support from the Summer Camp Director and wider team, and may be appointed on a residential or non-residential basis (residential preferred for lead/support staff, with some flexibility for the right candidate).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensure excellent pastoral care of day and boarding students, including health and safety, safeguarding and discipline.
2. Take the lead for activities, group management and staffing within the Languages element of camp.
3. Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality, stimulating and interactive English lessons for foreign language students.
4. Work with the Director to deliver engaging excursions/trips within the programme.
5. Assess student work, correct misunderstandings, and prepare a report for each camper at the end of their stay.
6. Manage risks appropriately during activities and support risk assessments as required.
7. Deal with issues relating to safety, child protection, timetabling, behaviour or participation, and escalate concerns to the Director.
8. Record attendance accurately and report to the Director.
9. Record first aid/health & safety issues and report to the medical lead.
10. Share photos and videos daily via the secure online platform.
11. Work alongside the boarding team, following boarding procedures (e.g., signing in/out, mealtimes, bedtime, medication and night procedures).
12. Support evening and weekend activities when required, including planning the evening activities schedule.
13. Be on call in the event of an incident, fire, intruder or other emergency.
14. Manage pocket money collection and distribution and ensure documentation/medical items are ready for arrival/departure.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

15. Experience of curriculum-based teaching.
16. Teaching and/or coaching leadership qualifications.
17. Strong pastoral approach, with the ability to ensure students’ physical and mental wellbeing.
18. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, colleagues and parents.
19. Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
20. A reliable, adaptable and committed approach, with strong team spirit.
21. Ability to take part in afternoon, recreational and arranged sports/outdoor activities; patient, enthusiastic, self-controlled and dependable.
22. Understanding of camp ethos to ensure an excellent experience for each camper (desirable).
23. Experience in boarding and/or boarding qualifications/relevant boarding experience (desirable).
24. Multilingual capability (desirable).
25. Willingness to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, on a 6-day rota, including evening and some weekend work; one full day/night off per week.
26. A full DBS (required) and First Aid training/certification (preferred).
