In this role, you will be part of the frontline operations team covering the sewage treatment sites for the River Roding. This essential front-line role is crucial for the business to operate effectively. Every day presents different challenges to ensure our wastewater treatment works function properly, maintaining supply to customers and protecting the environment.
Base Location: Rye Meads - SG12 8JY.
Working Pattern: Monday-Friday, 7:30-15:30, 38 hours per week, including a call-out rota with additional pay.
What you’ll be doing as a Process Technician
1. Ensuring sites operate safely, efficiently, and within permitted specifications to protect the environment.
2. Monitoring, inspecting, maintaining equipment, and reporting or repairing defects promptly.
3. Taking ownership of health and safety concerns, escalating issues or resolving them where appropriate.
4. Collecting and reporting data to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory standards.
What you should bring to the role
No prior water industry experience is required. We welcome candidates from outside the sector, bringing fresh perspectives. You must be:
* Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Willing to work within the company's rota, including weekends and standby shifts.
* A team player committed to excellent performance and understanding how your role impacts Thames Water’s mission.
* Possessing a good sense of humor and not being squeamish about the work environment.
* Good at time management.
* Keen to learn and operate complex processes with high-quality controls.
* Able to perform basic computer tasks, such as inputting site data and viewing work schedules via a handheld device.
* Holding a full UK driving licence.
