A specialist SEMH provision in Manchester is seeking a committed SEMH Support Specialist to work with secondary-aged pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to help students rebuild trust, re‑engage with education, and develop the skills they need for a more positive future.
Your Impact
In this role, you will be instrumental in helping pupils overcome barriers and rediscover their potential.
Responsibilities
* Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
* Build strong, consistent relationships with students who may present with challenging behaviours
* Use calm, structured de‑escalation strategies to manage conflict and support emotional regulation
* Work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning approaches to individual needs
* Support pupils at risk of exclusion or transitioning from alternative provision
* Encourage resilience, accountability, and positive decision‑making
* Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
Who You Are
* Have experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
* Demonstrate strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills
* Be calm, patient, and confident under pressure
* Have experience in education, youth work, care, sports coaching, or alternative provision
* Be resilient, proactive, and committed to making a difference
* Be open to a long‑term opportunity with potential for a permanent role
