Biodiversity and Conservation Science Biodiversity Conservation Officer DBCA3145978 PSCA, Specified Calling Level 2, $116,195 - $127,313 plus 12% Superannuation

The Species and Communities Program coordinates the listing, management and recovery of threatened species, ecological communities and wetlands. The program provides policy, strategic and technical advice on fauna, flora, ecological community and wetland conservation, and manages projects for the promotion of conservation on land not managed by the department.

We currently have an opportunity for a Biodiversity Conservation Officer to join our team.

This position contributes to the conservation and management of conservation significant species through the provision of expert advice, assessments under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, policy development, written reports, and input to other processes as they arise.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than two (2) pages in total.

1. Experience in the field of biodiversity conservation related to threatened fauna (ESSENTIAL), including knowledge of and experience in biodiversity conservation legislation and policy (DESIRABLE).

2. Demonstrated ability to source and synthesise complex scientific information for use in environmental impact assessment to inform decision making.

3. Proven ability to prepare reports, submissions and correspondence relating to biodiversity conservation or environmental impact assessment to a high level.

4. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate and negotiate with a broad range of stakeholders.
