An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the London Borough of Merton's small but high performing Scrutiny Team. Your role will be to ensure the smooth running of Council Scrutiny meetings as part of the Council's decision making arrangements.
You will have responsibility for assigned regular meetings, including preparing the associated agendas, reports, and minutes, as well as researching and providing advice on items suitable for pre-decision scrutiny and facilitating and managing the work of task and finish groups.
You will need experience in minuting meetings, preferably in a local government authority environment, excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and good attention to detail. Organisational skills, and the ability to work some evenings as required will be essential.
A number of our meetings are run as hybrid meetings, with the requirement to webcast meetings (via YouTube and other platforms) to enable members/the public to access remotely. Therefore, excellent IT skills and an aptitude for learning IT systems will be essential, as you will be required to manage the technical requirements of hybrid council meetings.

We are situated in the Merton Civic Centre, which is opposite to Morden Underground Station, on the Northern Line. We are also a 10-minute walk from Morden Road Tram Stop and both Morden South and South Merton Railway Stations and near Wimbledon, which is part of The London Borough of Merton.
