A welcoming primary school in Southend is seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join their team on a part-time basis to cover maternity leave.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract: Temporary (Maternity Cover – until at least the end of the Summer Term)
Working Pattern: 3 days per week
Role Overview
The successful candidate will work alongside the school’s existing SENCo, who is in school 4.5 days per week, to ensure high-quality provision and support for pupils with additional needs.
You will play a key role in coordinating SEN provision, supporting staff, and working closely with families and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage SEN provision across the school

Support pupils with EHCPs and additional needs

Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
*
Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals
*
Contribute to SEN reviews, assessments, and reports
*
Ensure compliance with SEND policies and statutory guidance
Key Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
*
SENCo qualification (or working towards)
*
Experience in a primary school SENCo role

Strong organisational and communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively within a team
