The Role
The medical AHP team at GRI has an exciting opportunity for a new HCSW position. This is a Band 3 generic HSW working alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and other HCSW’s within a dynamic team. The post sits alongside two established HCSW’s and two assistant practitioners. The purpose of the position is to assist physiotherapists and occupational therapists in the delivery and implementation of individual or group patient treatment programmes within the hospital. The post holder will accept patients assessed and referred by the AHP Team and manage them as a personal caseload – working without direct supervision. The role also involves assisting therapists in the rehabilitation of patients using delegated exercises and manual physical therapy treatments.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Permanent post
* 36 hours per week as part of a 7‑day service, including weekends on a rota
* Based within a hospital site in the North of Glasgow
Key Responsibilities
* Work as part of a multi‑professional team to ensure effective communication and delivery of care.
* Communicate with all relevant colleagues to maximise patient care and promote effective multi‑professional working.
* Maintain patient documentation, records and accurate mandatory statistical information.
* Handle non‑clinical duties such as ordering and maintaining stock, cleaning the department and equipment, and withdrawing damaged or problematic equipment from use.
* Continuously learn, develop and put patient care and well‑being at the forefront of day‑to‑day work.
* Bring prior healthcare experience to transition smoothly into this demanding role.
Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required
* Experience as a Therapy Assistant or equivalent SVQ Level III
* Pass in Standard Grade English
* Basic numeracy skills
* Aware of Health & Safety and risk management
* Ability to demonstrate understanding of professional conduct
