Overview
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER
Senior EHO
FULL TIME, 37 HOURS PER WEEK
Career Grade 4-5, £36,684 to £45,498 per annum
Environmental health encompasses all of the external factors that affect human health and wellbeing. This includes issues relating to the air we breathe, the impact of the houses and conditions we live in, and the interactions we have with one another.
This is a dynamic and constantly changing area of work and an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer in the Housing & Pollution team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player to undertake the full range of duties working in a geographical area of the District. We would be willing to consider applications from appropriately qualified Environmental Health degree-holders who still require practical experience.
Role and responsibilities
The Housing & Pollution specialist will undertake our HMO licensing, inspect properties for HHSRS compliance and carry out appropriate enforcement, respond to complaints of nuisance, filthy and verminous premises, permitted processes and contaminated land, and serving notices as necessary.
The role will also respond to planning and licensing consultations and play an active role in delivering any public health initiatives that we are involved in.
The successful candidate will be a qualified Environmental Health Officer and hold a degree (either BSc or MSc) or Diploma in Environmental Health, or can demonstrate that they are actively working towards their professional qualification. Career grade candidates pay will be capped at scale point 29 (currently £40,212) until fully qualified.
If the applicant is not already a qualified EHO who is registered with the CIEH (formerly EHRB registration), to be eligible for consideration for this role the applicant must have completed their degree and be working towards their “EHP portfolio”.
