An exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to join the market leader in clean marine technology, Silverstream Technologies.
Company: Silverstream Technologies was founded in 2010 with the aim of optimizing fuel efficiency in the maritime sector using air lubrication technology. The Silverstream System is a proven energy-saving technology, delivering 5-10% net fuel and emissions savings, suitable for retrofit and newbuild vessels. Air lubrication addresses immediate decarbonisation requirements and operational efficiency challenges related to future energy transitions.
Location: Chandlers Ford, Southampton Office OR London HQ, Marylebone.
Reporting to: Head of Software Development
This role involves translating product management vision into tangible features, building a scalable data platform capable of handling millions of data points from ships, and developing digital applications for thousands of users. The engineer will collaborate with Cloud, backend, and front-end engineers to develop an event-driven Azure-based data platform with back-end development in C# and Python, and build microservices to support digital applications. Front-end development tasks may also be required occasionally.
Experience / Qualifications Required:
* At least 5 years of experience as a backend software engineer, with a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.
* Extensive expertise in C#, with proficiency in Python considered an advantage.
* Experience with full-stack development, especially React or JavaScript.
* Experience with ORM tools such as SQL Alchemy, Django (Python), or EF Core (C#).
* Strong focus on unit testing with experience using xUnit, pytest, React Testing Library, and Jest.
* Experience in data science, including data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
* Proficiency with data manipulation tools and libraries.
* Significant experience working in a DevOps environment with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and general Azure experience.
* Experience implementing feature flag software releases and working in an agile environment.
