Your Role
1. Integrate complex vehicle systems into a coherent whole to enable our software to be developed and tested on our autonomous vehicles.
2. Working practically with our autonomous vehicles, demonstrating passion for robotics and autonomous systems
3. Using your understanding of the physics of self-driving car sensing technology ( LiDAR, Cameras, RADAR)
4. Demonstrating your familiarity with all levels of calibration of robotics systems (vehicle, sensor intrinsic, sensor extrinsic).
5. Investigating the combination of the autonomous software stack and new hardware to ensure functionality is as intended.
6. Using your strong data exploration experience to ensure each new platforms are delivered to the same Oxbotica standard.
7. Basic software development for integration of hardware and improving the automation process.
8. Commission a new data logger.
9. Write and perform test cases for these systems.
10. Understand the safety and legislative requirements for your work.
11. CANbus systems scrutiny and design
12. Debug electrical and hardware problems for new components integrated on test vehicles.
Documentation:
13. Contributing to internal process documents around the design, test, build and sign-off of new platforms
14. Contributing to internal user documentation for the commissioning process for repeat vehicles
15. Producing Field Bugs documents and participating in agile planning processes (Jira)
16. Contributing to Autonomous Vehicle Daily Checklists.
Requirements
What you need to succeed:
17. A degree in Engineering or related subject
18. Automotive, Robotics or similar industry background in System Engineering
19. Familiarity with python scripting, or similar for automation
20. Previous background working with rapid prototyping vehicle software ( Matlab / Simulink / dSPACE)
21. Knowledge of CANbus systems
22. Be able to work well under pressure and with tight timelines
23. Positive approach to problem solving and ability to 'think on your feet'
24. Able to proactively preempt problems and seize opportunities, iteratively discuss solutions and ideas with software teams.
25. Knowledge of key elements of autonomous systems
26. Demonstrate a deep understanding of complex systems and an appreciation of how components of these systems interact with each other and with the real world through hardware interfaces
27. Excellent communication skills, it will be important to be able to communicate with people at all levels in our small, but growing business
28. You will be an innovator, lots of our opportunities will require novel, custom solutions
Extra kudos:
29. A background of using UNIX/Linux
30. Knowledge of working with commissioning prototype autonomous platforms
31. Automotive industry exposure with prototype test vehicles
32. Hands-on background of building and modifying cars and/or robots
33. Full driving license
