Senior Electrical Design Engineer - HV Plant
Location: North England (hybrid with travel to offices and site visits)
Salary: up to £70,000 (+ benefits)

A leading UK engineering services provider is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer - HV Plant to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects across the power sector. With a strong pipeline of transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects, they are looking to expand their design team with an experienced engineer.
In this role, you will take the lead on the design, drawings, and calculations for substation primary plant systems. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team and provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to detailed design.
Key Responsibilities
Lead HV/EHV substation primary plant design projects, ensuring delivery to quality, time, and budget requirements
Develop and review engineering drawings and documentation, including general arrangements, layouts, and single line diagrams
Perform design calculations such as busbar sizing, short-circuit analysis, cable sizing, and switchroom assessments
Prepare and review technical specifications for substation plant and associated equipment
Carry out site surveys and provide technical support to site teams
Participate in design reviews, hazard assessments, and client meetings
Ideal Background & Skills
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Proven experience delivering HV/EHV substation primary (plant) design projects
Strong understanding of substation layouts, plant equipment, and design calculations
Ability to work independently on technically complex projects
Good commercial awareness and experience working within project constraints
