Job purpose
Janes requires a naval weapons subject matter expert to conduct research and in-depth analysis of naval technologies in service and under development for future warfare.
The successful candidate will collaborate with other analysts in the Weapons Team to connect data innovatively, helping to build and enhance our world-class naval weapons database.
How you will contribute at Janes
* Conduct open-source research on naval weapons, including air-defense systems, torpedoes, mines, uncrewed surface vessels, and artillery, supporting global government, military, and defence industry clients.
* Provide insights through specifications databases, reference texts, webinars, and bespoke reports.
* Write news updates and long-form analytical pieces, with support and training provided as needed.
* Build relationships with defence equipment manufacturers and system users, attend exhibitions, conferences, and events to gather primary research.
* Work collaboratively with other analysts to review content and maintain high-quality standards.
* Lead initiatives to improve naval weapons content and related data sets.
Requirements
* Degree in a relevant technical field.
* Knowledge of naval weapons operation and design; hands-on experience is a plus.
* Strong communication skills in English, capable of producing technical writing; training available if needed.
* Additional language skills, especially Chinese and Russian, are highly valued.
* Excellent networker, able to build relationships with external experts.
* Organized with strong problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
