What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Global Operations Director, the Purchasing Manager plays a critical leadership role in the operations function, managing a team of Buyers and Senior Buyers to deliver a high-performing, cost-effective supply chain. Operating in a dynamic electronics manufacturing environment, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for ensuring materials and components—particularly electronics and accessories—are sourced and delivered in line with production and customer delivery requirements.
This key position requires strong procurement experience in electronics manufacturing, familiarity with turnkey subcontract partners, and hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent MRP/ERP systems. The successful candidate will lead negotiations, manage supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement projects across the global supply base. With frequent new product introductions and complex, high-mix manufacturing, the role is essential to meeting delivery, quality, and cost targets across the business.
As part of a collaborative and fast-paced team, you will contribute to sourcing strategy, supplier development, and risk management, while providing day-to-day leadership to a growing purchasing team.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Acting as the primary owner of supplier relationships and external purchasing activity.
* Ensuring materials and components are ordered accurately and delivered on time and in full.
* Negotiating commercial terms to maximize value from all external spend.
* Implementing sourcing strategies in line with business goals, including global sourcing and make-versus-buy analysis.
* Leading cost reduction, supplier performance improvement, and lead-time reduction initiatives.
* Managing supplier obsolescence and risks across strategic and critical categories.
* Setting clear goals and KPIs for the Purchasing team and supporting their development and performance.
* Using data and metrics to control and improve purchasing effectiveness and supply chain responsiveness.
* Supporting the successful delivery of New Product Introductions and customer delivery projects.
About You:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics manufacturing and accessories procurement, with demonstrable success leading purchasing teams and supplier negotiations. You should be commercially astute, technically knowledgeable, and experienced in navigating supply chain complexities in a production environment.
We're particularly interested in candidates with:
* A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain, Engineering, Business).
* MCIPS certification or equivalent experience.
* Hands-on experience using Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP/MRP systems.
* Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
* A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
* A solid understanding of Contract Law relevant to procurement and supplier agreements.
* Experience working with turnkey subcontract manufacturers and electronics component suppliers.
This role requires flexibility, including occasional travel to suppliers both within the UK and internationally, as well as a willingness to work outside of standard business hours when necessary. Candidates must also be eligible to undergo UK Security Clearance.
