Key Responsibilities of a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant As a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Supporting pupils with SEN such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and complex needs Providing one-to-one and small group support in and out of the classroom Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour positively Supporting independence, confidence, and social development Assisting with personal care and mobility where required Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals Previous Experience We're Looking For To be successful as a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant, experience in any of the following areas is highly valued: Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or SEN TA experience Support work with children or young people with additional needs Care work (residential, supported living, or domiciliary care) Experience working with children in any capacity (schools, nurseries, youth work, clubs, mentoring, or coaching) Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour or complex needs Formal school experience is not essential-SENDHelp values transferable skills, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting children.
