About the Role
I am a young man, living at home. I have severe learning disabilities and can display behaviours of distress (self). I have limited communication and require my team to understand my communication techniques to support me to make my own choices. I have complex needs and require 24/7 support from my individual team. I am dependent on others to complete daily activities, including hydrotherapy, Snoezelen, music therapy, activities within my home and attending the community in my car. I require full support with nutritional needs, personal care and medication.
* Provide 24/7 support and understanding of communication techniques to enable the person to make their own choices.
* Support daily activities at home and in the community, including hydrotherapy, Snoezelen, music therapy, and related therapies.
* Assist with nutritional needs, personal care and medication safely and respectfully.
* Support with transportation in the person’s car as required.
* Respond to behaviours of distress with appropriate strategies and compassion.
Could you be the person to support?
The ideal candidate will be naturally caring and interested in supporting people with learning disabilities, will be committed, reliable, flexible, have a positive and caring nature with a cheerful, and calm personality and excellent communication skills.
Prior experience in learning disability care and related interventions of care and support is not essential as training will be provided. Ability to respond effectively during behaviours of distress, strong observational skills to pick up on non-verbal cues and body language, adaptability and willingness to provide support in all aspects of daily living will be required. It is essential that you have a driving licence and can drive my car.

* Training: An excellent training package is available to ensure you are trained to the highest standards. Paid person-centered practical training based on client’s requirements and needs. Online training will also be provided as part of the mandatory CQC guidelines. In addition, we offer continuous professional development. * 5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro-rata for part-time positions).
