This job is responsible for providing housing support in a high-quality housing service located in Hemel Hempstead, supporting Separated Migrant Children individuals 16 to 18 years working in partnership with Children Services and other External Services supporting the young people to move from dependence to independence. The job is part of a team providing personal counselling, support and enablement to people with a variety of support needs, including mental health, trauma, english as a second language, life skills and adapting to a new life in UK. The job requires working flexible hours in accordance with the rota, that are negotiated with the line manager, and that are in line with the needs of the service users. You will be expected to: • Empower residents to move from dependence to independence • Develop a respect for the people as individuals • Develop a positive image for their presence and participation in the community • Develop opportunities to enhance their skills appropriate to their lifestyle • Offer choices that are appropriate to their needs and have due regard for their safety The key elements of the post are to: • Provide high quality housing support to residents, including person centred support plans, risk assessments, advice and guidance. • Identify and advise residents of available personal development opportunities and activities. • Actively engage with residents to maximise the benefits of their stay at the YMCA. • Work towards and achieve the agreed Key Performance Indicators and performance objectives and ensure a high level of service is always provided. In 2020/21 we provided over 185,030 nights of safe and secure accommodation to those most in need. Providing considerably more than just accommodation our highly experienced support and complex-needs team deliver over 23,000 housing-related support sessions each year through which our housing team were able to support a total of 992 vulnerable individuals to escape homelessness and rough sleeping with 463 of our residents being helped to move-on positively into their own long term settled accommodation.
