Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic relief Nursery Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a strong understanding of early childhood education principles. As a relief Nursery Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and well-being of children in our care, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
This post will be to cover staff sick days, holiday days, planned leave. This position could be from 10 hours to 38 hours a week dependent on the time of year, or absence of staff and would be flexible on hours and days.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the daily care and supervision of children within the nursery setting.
* Support the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
* Communicate effectively with children, encouraging their participation and engagement in activities.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment for children to explore and learn.
* Collaborate with other staff members to manage classroom dynamics and provide leadership when necessary.
* Observe and record children's progress, sharing insights with senior staff as required.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and nursery procedures.
Qualifications
* Relief staff may not need any qualifications in childcare if hours are variable.
* Level 2 or 3 in Early years or Childcare is preferable although if applicant does not have Kids Academy will support staff to gain the qualification.
* Qualification in Childcare must be commenced within 1 year of employment as it is an essential requirement.
* Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education is highly desirable.
* A background in leading groups of children is an advantage.
* Strong communication skills in English are essential for interacting with children, parents, and colleagues.
* A genuine passion for working with young children and fostering their development is crucial.
