This role supports the development of electricity infrastructure to enable electrification of the wider economy.
The role is suited to procurement professionals with experience in engineering and construction in the UK or candidates with a quantity surveying background, as the role covers both pre and post contract award activities. Awareness of the constraints and complexities in the UK construction market is essential.
What you’ll be doing
* Lead procurement of high-value strategic agreements through procurement to contract awards and act as the procurement lead as projects are allocated and developed for delivery under the agreement.
* Engage suppliers, manage supplier relationships, gather market intelligence, benchmark, negotiate high-value complex contracts, and manage cost and commercial aspects.
* Oversee purchasing and supply chain activities, relationships with suppliers, and procurement of high-value strategic agreements and one-off contracts.
* Collaborate with the business to support development, construction or operation of significant infrastructure projects, assets, systems and services; understand business drivers and market dynamics.
* Develop contracting strategies (tactical and strategic) and execute these through competitive tendering and negotiation.
* Lead and support the commercial aspects of contract negotiations, manage commercial and contractual activities pre-contract and, where appropriate, post-contract to ensure best value and alignment with Iberdrola Group Procurement processes.
* Identify and understand commercial risks and reflect them in appropriate technical and commercial information.
What you’ll bring
* Experience in engineering and construction contracts and markets in the UK; either a procurement or quantity surveying background.
* Familiarity with strategy development, procurement processes, evaluating supplier bids, cost and commercial contract management, and negotiations.
* Experience with engineering and construction contracts (including EPC-type contracts) and familiarity with NEC conditions of contract.
* Confident procurement professional or quantity surveyor with ability to persuade, challenge, and build credibility with stakeholders; strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work to timelines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for cost modeling to evaluate supplier bids.
