About us
The MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) is a biomedical research institute where scientists and clinicians collaborate to advance the understanding of biology and its application to medicine. LMS is one of three directly funded MRC research institutes and enjoy close links with our partners at Imperial College London and at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
About the role
Are you a molecular biologist excited to dive into the world of computational genomics? Join our team to work at the interface of cutting-edge wet lab techniques and data-driven discovery. This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong foundation in molecular biology who is eager to expand into computational biology. The role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with innovative single-cell and spatial technologies, while being supported in developing programming and data analysis skills. Projects may include generating and analysing complex genomic datasets for different processes (e.g., development, disease, genome regulation), contributing to method optimisation, and engaging in collaborative research initiatives across the institute.
About you
We’re looking for a curious and driven scientist to join the Developmental Epigenomics group. The group, led by Juanma Vaquerizas, explores how the genome is regulated during development and disease. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience in molecular biology methods (e.g., single-cell sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9, microscopy). Basic computational skills (R, Python) are desirable.
What we offer
As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer defined benefit pension scheme and excellent holiday entitlement (30 days plus 2.5 privilege days & 8 bank holidays), family friendly policies (6 months full pay maternity & adoption leave), a range of shopping/travel discounts, access to our Employee Assistant Programme Scheme, Health and Wellbeing Support and a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme. Please follow this link to find out more -Benefits

Applications without a cover letter will not be accepted. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive research environment. If you're excited to work at the intersection of molecular biology and data science, we’d love to hear from you! Please quote reference number LMS 2665.
Applicants are encouraged to review our LMS website for additional positions in developmental epigenetics.
The final appointment will be subject to pre-employment screening
Please note that applications may be reviewed by both LMS and Imperial staff
