Description IT Manager – Gosport Borough Council Location: Gosport, Hampshire Salary: Grade 11 (£53,868 - £57,070) Contract: Full-time, Permanent Join us at Gosport Borough Council as our next IT Manager and help shape the digital future of our local authority. We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced IT professional to lead and develop our operational IT services ensuring robust, secure, and innovative digital delivery across the Council. Working under a shared service agreement with Southampton City Council, you will report to the Head of IT (Director of Digital at SCC) and the Chief Executive at Gosport, taking the lead on day-to-day IT operations and contributing to strategic initiatives. Your Role Will Include: Managing the IT team and daily operations, including staff development, training, and performance reviews. Leading implementation of the Council’s ICT Strategy and driving continual service improvement. Ensuring the security, reliability, and efficiency of voice/data infrastructure and networks. Managing IT budgets, procurement, and the IT capital programme. Overseeing the implementation of new and upgraded business systems, including cloud migration projects. Maintaining effective IT support through a responsive helpdesk service. Supporting business continuity and disaster recovery planning. Liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and auditors, while managing IT policies and compliance. Acting as deputy to the Head of IT when required. Establish and drive a continuous improvement programme for the IT service. About You: You will bring a blend of leadership, technical knowledge, and collaborative skills, including: Professional qualifications and demonstrable experience in IT business systems and infrastructure. Advanced knowledge of IT networks, cloud solutions, and local authority digital risks. Proven ability to manage operational IT services and lead successful IT projects. Strong experience in team leadership, budget management, and policy development. Familiarity with core local authority systems (e.g., Revenues & Benefits, Housing, Finance, GIS).
