The University Workday product team function has the responsibility to maximise value for money and ensure increased efficiency, economy and effectiveness of our new ERP solution(Workday). Its focus is on developing a well-trained and coordinated workforce able to add value to the economy whilst complying with national guidelines, policy initiatives and its legislative responsibilities. This role will work with the product team and other functional and cross-functional areas, including our HR, Finance and payroll and their teams, to ensure that all processes are appropriately documented, producing clear and useful process flows alongside additional documentation where necessary, as well as making recommendations for areas of potential improvement. Specific Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying inefficiencies, analysing processes, and implementing innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experience across departments and user journeys throughout the organisation. To achieve this, they will systematically interrogate Workday and other enterprise data sources, applying quantitative and qualitative analysis to measure process performance and uncover root causes of inefficiencies. They will recognise and interpret emerging trends in operational and customer data, using statistical techniques, dashboards, and benchmarking to highlight areas of concern. In addition, they will proactively seek out and integrate other relevant sources of information — such as stakeholder feedback, external best practice, and regulatory requirements — to strengthen their investigations. By combining data‑driven insight with creative problem‑solving, the post holder will develop actionable recommendations, guide decision‑making, and ensure that solutions deliver sustainable improvements with long‑term impact. The Workday Business Analyst will act as a change agent, collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and drive measurable improvements in productivity and quality. In addition to this, the BA will lead our decommissioning project to support our post ERP migration. The post holder will: Analyse. and understand existing Workday-related processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement The post holder is required to apply creativity and innovative thinking to resolve issues and overcome challenges, ensuring that solutions are not only practical but also sustainable. By shaping participation, guiding collaboration, and introducing imaginative approaches to problem‑solving, the Workday Business Analyst directly influences decisions with long-term impact—typically spanning three to five years—ensuring that initiatives are aligned with university strategy and deliver enduring value.” Builds and own strong internal networks across academic departments, administrative and functional units, executive leadership, and project governance teams, while also engaging externally with peer institutions, professional associations, vendors, consultants, regulatory bodies, and community or industry partners, closely with business stakeholders to gather Workday-specific requirements, define objectives, and prioritise improvement Collaborate with process owners to design and implement optimisation strategies within Workday, including standardised procedures, automation, and workflow redesigns Lead cross-functional teams through the Workday process improvement lifecycle—from analysis and solution design to implementation and performance monitoring Stay informed about Workday best practices, emerging trends, and technologies related to process improvement and system optimisation The role is accountable for the successful outcomes of complex projects, making strategic decisions about which stakeholders and specialists to involve in project teams. By shaping participation and guiding collaboration, the Senior Business Analyst directly influences decisions with long‑term impact—typically spanning three to five years—ensuring that initiatives are sustainable, aligned with university strategy, and deliver enduring value.
