You will own the delivery of multiple initiatives in the integration space for Mortgages supporting strategic roadmap, reliability, best practice adoption and resilience. This role is within the Mortgages Chief Information Office (CIO) function under CT (Customer Technology), part of the wider Chief Operating Office (COO) organisation, which is responsible for delivering IT solutions which have our customers and colleagues at heart. Mortgages are primarily provided via brokers, through our online and API channels. We are actively expanding our propositions in both the Home and Landlord space as part of integration.
You will be accountable for end-to-end delivery of the agreed roadmap that supports our Virgin Money Integration and Migration Strategy. You will work closely with Lead engineer and architecture team to provide thought leadership to our Engineering teams.
This role will drive a culture of continuous improvement, with a focus on building technical capability (including people) across all disciplines. Responsibilities
You will be expected to take accountability for the end-to-end delivery lifecycle of the engineering function within Mortgages, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders whilst providing technology and architectural leadership, strategic direction and long‑term vision for VMx integration. As a technology lead, you will be actively involved in designing and solutioning, creating options papers and presenting to senior stakeholders – you will be liaising with engineering leads across the organisation and be part of interlock planning sessions.
Qualifications
As a minimum requirement, you will have/be:
* Prior experience of delivering solutions in the acquisition scenario at organisation level and a deeper understanding of risks and impacts
* An experienced technical leader with a strong execution mindset, strategic vision and the ability to influence across business and technology teams with proven experience in defining strategy and leading complex transformation programmes
* Extensive experience in Banking and the financial industry, working across products including mortgages or other lending products
* Extensive end-to-end understanding of the mortgage lifecycle and related domains like Collections & Recoveries, Credit Risk, Mortgage Servicing Operations and External Risk
* Experience in data modernisation including cloud & AI adoption in Banking industry and a good understanding of SQL and ETL tools like Databricks
* Excellent communication skills and ability to create a narrative for CIOs and present independently with technical options and delivery choices
* Experience in detail planning and impact assessment
