About the apprenticeship
Duties
Supervise and provide special support for students, including some with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
Assist with the learning and development of each student, including implementing Individual Education/Behavior Plans and Personal Care programs – including toileting, feeding, and mobility.
Following training, administer medication in accordance with procedures and policies for the ALN and schools.
Promote inclusion and acceptance of every student.
Encourage students to interact with others and participate in activities under the guidance of the teacher.
Set challenging and stretching expectations and promote self-respect and independence.
Under the guidance of the teacher, provide feedback to students regarding progress and achievement.
Apply strategies to encourage independence and self-confidence.
Provide effective feedback to students regarding programs and identify and reward achievement.
Requirements
Qualifications
GCSEs Grade A-CExperience
Working with children of the appropriate age or caring for them.
Working on tasks with pupils with additional needs.
Qualifications
Good numeracy/literacy skills.
Training in relevant strategies to support learning.
First aid training as appropriate.
Knowledge/Skills
Effective TGaCh material to support learning
Using other basic equipment and technology, e.g., video, photocopier.
Understanding relevant policies/code of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
General understanding of the national/foundation phase, 14–19 curriculum pathways, and other basic learning programs/strategies as appropriate.
Basic understanding of child development and learning.
Ability to relate well to children and adults.
Working constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom functions and responsibilities and your own position within them.
