Vallorii is a UK-based, purpose-driven infrastructure technology firm, building data-driven products based on a fundamentally new approach to the valuation of infrastructure. (e.g., power & gas networks, water and wastewater, rail, airports, digital infrastructure).
One year in, we are in a new stage of growth, with a focus on scaling our products, deepening real-world deployment, and building the team and capabilities we need to support this expansion.
Join us and help transform how billions are invested in sustainable infrastructure, build the community of senior thought leaders and create our culture as we scale. You’ll join a growing team that embraces flexible, collaborative ways of working, operate with high responsibility and autonomy, and apply quantitative analysis to real-world infrastructure and sustainability challenges.
The Role
We are seeking a Technical Lead to play a foundational role in building and scaling Vallorii’s AI-enabled infrastructure valuation platform. We operate with leadership and autonomy from the outset, and offer a clear development path as Vallorii scales.
Reporting directly to co-founder Jorge Cardenas, you will shape the architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction of our product as we move from early deployments to a robust, scalable platform.
This is a high-ownership role offering substantial scope to define how we build, from backend systems and data infrastructure to integration of quantitative modelling engines and web-based tools.
You will work at the intersection of engineering, quantitative modelling, and product development. As Vallorii scales, you will help establish practices and take on increasing leadership responsibility for the growing product team.
The role offers exposure to senior decision-makers, investors, regulators, and subject-matter experts working on major infrastructure challenges in the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Ownership & Technical Direction
* Own the design and evolution of Vallorii’s core platform architecture.
* Build a modular, reusable backend that supports multiple connected products built on shared quantitative engines.
* Define technical standards for structure, testing, documentation, versioning, and auditability.
* Ensure systems are robust, explainable, and defensible in regulatory and investor-facing environments.
* Make pragmatic architectural decisions that support rapid iteration today without compromising long‑term scalability.
Production Integration of Quantitative & AI Capabilities
* Design clean interfaces between modelling engines, data pipelines, and application layers.
* Establish reusable components so models can be deployed consistently across clients and products.
* Integrate AI/LLM workflows where they create structural advantage.
* Collaborate closely with quantitative colleagues to ensure engineering rigour without diluting analytical depth.
Productisation & Structured Deployment
* Translate bespoke client deployments into reusable platform capabilities.
* Support the identification of patterns across advisory work and convert them into configurable product features.
* Support early product demos and technical validation with clients.
* Implement disciplined release cycles, testing standards, and performance monitoring.
* Maintain high engineering quality while operating in a fast‑moving, early‑stage environment.
Engineering Leadership & Team Development
* Operate with high autonomy and initiative, taking responsibility for delivery from design to deployment.
* Lead engineering execution as a hands‑on individual contributor.
* Establish how engineering operates at Vallorii: workflows, code review standards, CI practices, documentation norms.
* Mentor and develop junior engineers as the team expands.
* Contribute to hiring and help shape the long‑term structure of the product team.
* Create clarity of ownership between engineering, quantitative research, and product.
Skills & Experience
We recognise that strong candidates may come from a range of backgrounds. If you meet most - but not all) - of the criteria below, we still encourage you to apply.
* Strong professional experience in software engineering (typically 5+ years), including backend/API development in Python and familiarity with cloud systems
* Experience designing and deploying production systems in early‑stage or fast‑moving environments.
* Ability to architect systems that integrate modelling engines, structured data, and web‑based interfaces.
* Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and structured data workflows.
* Familiarity with modern web application architecture (e.g., React‑based front ends, REST APIs).
* Experience with cloud‑based infrastructure (e.g., AWS or Azure), containerisation, and CI/CD practices.
* Ability to write clean, maintainable, well‑tested code and to contribute to technical design discussions.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across technical and non‑technical teams.
* Experience integrating machine learning or LLM‑based components into production systems.
* Exposure to quantitative finance, infrastructure finance, regulatory economics, or complex modelling environments.
* Experience building data‑intensive or analytics‑heavy platforms.
* Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to technical hiring.
* Interest in sustainability and the long‑term performance of infrastructure systems.
