Instructor & Apprentice Mentor (Game and Wildlife)
We are seeking an individual to undertake a dual role:
1. Instructor / Game and Wildlife (0.5 FTE) - Up to £25,611 pro-rated (dependent on qualifications and experience)
2. Apprenticeship Progress Mentor / Game and Wildlife (0.5 FTE) - Up to £31,773 pro-rated (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Sparsholt College has a national reputation for training gamekeepers and wildlife managers, many of whom now hold key roles across the UK.
We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced person to work as an Instructor/Apprenticeship Progress Mentor. The role involves supporting apprentices, liaising with estates that employ them, instructing learners and apprentices in gamekeeping, land, and wildlife management skills during their college study blocks. The role also includes working closely within a supportive Land and Wildlife team to deliver learning to other (non-apprentice) gamekeeping students on campus.
Candidates should have experience in gamekeeping or related roles. Ideally, candidates will hold a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject. The role requires self-motivation, the ability to work with young people, and a desire to educate the next generation of gamekeepers and wildlife managers. The successful applicant will receive training and support to attain the necessary teaching and assessing qualifications over time.
This role offers an opportunity for someone considering a career change who is eager to work with and develop young people. It may also suit a recently qualified individual looking to launch their career, as training and development are provided.
A full driving licence is essential, as the role involves visiting estates across a wide geographical area.
