Job Description: Mobile Handyperson

Our Building Services division provides complete Facilities Management of properties throughout the UK, offering mechanical and electrical engineering support, cleaning, catering, and grounds maintenance on a planned and reactive basis, utilizing technological solutions to manage our teams efficiently.

We are seeking a Mobile Handyperson to join our team on the Kent County Council contract.

Role Purpose: To perform Planned Preventive and Reactive Maintenance, assist with works related to M&E Services, and handle Small Works and emergency procedures as needed. The role includes participation in the out-of-hours call-out rota, reporting directly to the Operations Manager.

This is a mobile position covering various locations across Kent, requiring a full clean driving license.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a self-motivated, ‘can-do’ attitude to work effectively within the mobile team.
2. Perform maintenance and repairs on fire doors, doorframes, and associated fittings and fixtures.
3. Carry out minor carpentry repairs, including work on doors, windows, timber constructions, and the fixing of shelves, pictures, and noticeboards.
4. Replace and install locks.
5. Perform general labouring duties such as furniture movement and gutter clearances.
6. Conduct seasonal gritting as per the gritting plan, which may involve out-of-hours work due to weather conditions.
7. Assist with semi-skilled tasks as directed by the Operations Manager or Supervisor.
8. Ensure all maintenance and inspection records are completed and submitted promptly.
9. Support other PPM and additional work requirements, adhering to engineering standards and HASWA regulations.
10. Collaborate with professionals within and outside the fabric specialism.
11. Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
12. Participate in overtime on an ad-hoc basis.

Candidate Profile:

1. Previous experience in building maintenance.
2. Manual handling skills.
3. Willingness to develop and learn new skills.
4. Effective management and organization of workload to ensure timely completion.
5. Ability to work independently and proactively, reporting health and safety issues to the SHEQ team.
6. Good communication skills and the ability to build trust.
