Through high-quality community development and health and wellbeing services, they support people to achieve what matters to them and build strong, inclusive communities.
Role and time commitment
The Chair of Trustees leads the Board through the next phase of their three-year strategy. This voluntary role requires a commitment of around 12–14 hours per month, including Board meetings, subcommittee involvement, preparation time, and occasional representation at external events.
Responsibilities
* Provide clear, values-led leadership to a committed and friendly Board, ensuring strong governance, strategic focus, and effective support and challenge to the Chief Executive.
* Shape Board agendas, steward good governance, represent the charity externally, and maintain strong relationships with partners, stakeholders, and the communities Southern Brooks serves.
Qualifications and attributes
* Proven leadership experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex strategic issues with sound judgment and diplomacy.
* Experience of chairing, governance, or non-executive roles would be advantageous, alongside a commitment to the values of Southern Brooks and to championing equality, diversity, and inclusive community development.
