Our client is a thriving Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering Consultancy based near Birmingham, West Midlands with an enviable reputation in general Engineering Services. They are widely experienced in the design of many types of structures in steel, reinforced concrete and timber, ranging from domestic alterations to industrial portal framed buildings and multi storey office developments. They are seeking a keen Structural Engineer, ideally with three years or more of structural design experience, working towards or having recently achieved professional membership with either the IStructE or ICE. This is a small consultancy firm with a strong reputation which will allow the successful candidate to work on a broad variety of projects. From larger public sector, commercial, industrial and automotive projects across the UK to smaller bespoke new dwellings and domestic alterations and surveys. The successful candidate will be supported to develop professionally with the opportunity to deal directly with clients and other professionals and quickly work towards being the primary contact for projects under their control. Progression towards professional membership and ongoing CDP will be encouraged and supported. Responsibilities To deliver small projects independently and others within a team. Liaise directly with clients, design team and contractors. Undertake structural calculations in a variety of materials such as steel, timber and masonry to either British Standards or Eurocodes. Working with engineering software such as the Tekla Suite (TEDD’s, Structural Designer, Connections etc.) and AutoCAD. Willingness to work with and support others in a team. Requirements Be degree qualified in either Civil or Structural Engineering and working towards chartership via IStructE, ICE or equivalent. Have a fundamental understanding of engineering principles, technical analysis techniques and some experience of design software packages. Experience of producing design calculations and to either British Standards or Eurocodes in a range of materials such as steel, timber and masonry. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ideally applicants should hold a full driving license. £32,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
