Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield
Salary: Up to £200 per day
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Flexible / Day-to-day / Long-term
Start Date: Immediately
A range of specialist and mainstream schools in Sheffield are seeking dedicated and resilient SEMH Teachers to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
About the Schools:
These schools provide supportive, structured and trauma-informed environments designed to meet the needs of pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. Staff work closely together to create safe, consistent and nurturing settings where relationships are central to learning, and pupils are encouraged to re-engage with education at their own pace.
About the Role:
As a SEMH Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet the needs of pupils with a range of social, emotional and behavioural challenges. You will focus on building trust, supporting emotional regulation, and helping pupils access learning in a way that promotes confidence and stability.
Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver adapted lessons to meet SEMH needs
* Create a safe, structured and supportive classroom environment
* Manage behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
* Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and resilience
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
* Track progress and adapt learning approaches where needed
* Work closely with support staff and wider school teams
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (desirable)
* Experience working with SEMH, SEND or alternative provisions
* Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
* Calm, patient and resilient approach
* Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable learners
* Commitment to inclusive and supportive education
