St Margaret’s Hospice Care has a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Sunflower Centre (SFC) Day Services Team. This role is based in Yeovil. You will join us on a part time, permanent term basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £26,419.59 per annum pro rata (which equates to £10,679 per annum for 15 hours per week). This role has a working pattern of Tuesday and Wednesday, 08:30—16:30 (15 hours). There may be occasions where it may be required to split the 15 hours over 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) to cover absence. What can you expect to be doing? Our Healthcare Assistants provide outstanding patient care to those with life limiting illness, making each day count for those who rely on St Margaret’s services. You will be joining a well-established experienced multi-disciplinary team of clinicians and a valuable volunteer team. Our service provides a holistic multi-faceted approach to specialist palliative care assessment, treatment and support to ensure that patients with life limiting illnesses have appropriate access to a wide range of services and activities to meet their needs. Your day-to-day work will include: Planning and delivering individual patient programmes and group activities. Supporting and assisting patients with their individual hygiene and personal needs. Supporting patients with their individual dietary requirements and assisting with eating and drinking as required. Assisting in minimising patient’s anxiety, pain and discomfort under the guidance of qualified staff. Promoting as much independence as possible within the limits of disease progression. Administration and co-ordination tasks to facilitate smooth day to day SFC operation. What will you be good at? You will have: Demonstrable experience working as a healthcare assistant or similar NVQ 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent Written and verbal communication skills A holistic approach to patient care.
