Behaviour Support Assistant – Alternative Provision

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join our dynamic alternative provision, supporting both primary and secondary students.
Our alternative provision is a specialist educational setting designed to support young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional, social, or special educational needs. We aim to provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where students can develop essential skills, rebuild confidence, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with behavioural and emotional needs, helping them engage with their learning.
Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
Support individual students in accessing the curriculum and developing social skills.
Promote a calm and positive environment conducive to learning and personal development.
Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to support student progress.
Monitor and record student behaviour and progress.
Assist with daily routines, transitions, and maintaining a safe environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with behavioural challenges.
A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Supporting Children and Young People, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
