Position Overview
Hertfordshire Community NHS Trusts Children and Young Peoples Therapies (CYPT) Service is offering a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) position with specialist level dysphagia competencies. The role supports a 12‑month caseload of infants and children aged newborn to five with complex dysphagia and communication needs across East and North Hertfordshire.
Responsibilities
* Triage and prioritise referrals, ensuring assessments are completed within required timeframes.
* Maintain overall responsibility for the dysphagia and complex needs caseload within the locality.
* Lead the multi‑professional feeding clinic.
* Provide professional supervision to less experienced colleagues and support the development of dysphagia competencies.
* Deliver assessments and support to children and families in homes, childrens centres, early years specialist development centres, nurseries and clinic settings.
* Complete communication assessments as part of the EHCP process and provide second opinions for children with complex needs.
* Collaborate with specialist SLTs to ensure best practice and evidence‑based delivery of high quality care.
Qualifications & Experience
* Band 7 level experience as a Speech and Language Therapist.
* Specialist level dysphagia competencies, including experience with infants and children aged newborn to five.
* Experience working in a hospital setting and with videofluoroscopy.
* Strong communication, clinical reasoning and organisational skills.
* Capability to work autonomously and advocate for children and young people.
Conditions
* A valid driving licence and access to a car for business purposes are essential (unless you have a disability under the Equality Act 2010).
* Salary includes a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary (minimum £1,034, maximum £1,791 per annum).
